SitStandCOACH software enables employees to get the most from sit-stand desks. SitStandCOACH is proven to help employees avoid mental and physical fatigue that would otherwise lead to a drop off in their efficiency.
SitStandCOACH monitors computer use and informs the user when they should change position. It allows employees to concentrate on work without the distraction of potentially missing a necessary postural change
SitStandCOACH is an ergonomic software tool that advises users when they should alternate their sitting and standing position. Better than a one off training session, SitStandCOACH monitors employee computer use and informs them when they should change position.
Sit-stand workstations lead to more variation in working posture. A number of studies show that sit-stand desks lead to less discomfort in the back, neck and shoulders than regular seated desks (Karlqvist, 1998; Hedge and Ray, 2004; Konijn et al., 2008; Choi, 2010). Research from the University of Missouri-Columbia showed that sitting for long periods without standing, dramatically slowed the metabolism putting workers at greater risk of developing diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
Working standing is more taxing on the body than working sitting down. If employees work standing up for too long, then discomfort may increase. A study by Ebara showed that physical discomfort actually increased when people alternated between working sitting down for 10 minutes with working standing up for 5 minutes with respect to working continuously sitting down (Ebara et al., 2008).
